II. How To Setup ScoutPalDB:

ScoutPalDB is used with Windows Mobile Touch Screen Pocket PC pda's and phones that have Windows Mobile versions 5,6, or 2003.
IMPORTANT: You'll need a 1 or 2GB memory card. Most PDA's and some card readers can't read SD cards bigger than 2GB!

If will be using a Windows 8 or 8.1 computer for Step 1: first download and install the free Classic Shell to your computer.  It restores the Start button and other desktop controls as well as functions to allow full acess to your card and PDA.

IMPORTANT: Keep your databases updated after getting setup!
To update, just do the second half of Step 1 again ... it's that easy! Fresh updates are published every Monday & Friday morning, but you can update on any day and at any time that's convenient.

After updating, always ensure that your ScoutPalDB can find the database files: tap "Settings" at the bottom of the ScoutPalDB lookup screen. Then tap the Database tab to ensure that the database file location includes a full and correct path to the data card. (Most users can tap [Find it for me] to update the file path.) Then tap [OK], and the program will know to use the new data.

Always test that you can lookup merchandise with the update before leaving for a book sale! A quick and easy way to test basic lookup functionality is to tap in X42 then tap [Seek]. If the update is in good order, the X42 function will display random items from from the database each time you tap [Seek]. If there are any problems, contact ScoutPal support.
